Heading West

In a couple of weeks I am going to be heading west. I will be like one of the pioneers… packing up my Conestoga Wagon with its blue body, red wheels and white canvas cover and will be heading to an undiscovered country… Kind of anyway. I will be going to the Wine Bloggers Convention. But I will be driving solo, making it an adventure. Sort of like Thelma and Louise without Louise or the killing and Grand Canyon…. Not a Hollywood blockbuster type of adventure, but an adventure, nonetheless.

I have mapped out my route and have decided to try to visit wineries on the way and back… It makes sense, as that is what I do.

After leaving Illinois, I will be crossing over into Iowa, the third of a trio of “I” states in the Midwest. My preliminary research shows a good number of wineries in Iowa. For instance, in the order of 75 wineries in Iowa. This is going to be embarrassment of riches from which to choose!

I will probably be traveling in the southern part of the state which eliminates some choices right away. Still, WOW!
