I saw a demonstration last night on how to sabre a bottle of Champagne. I want to do this from now on, although realistically, I realize that my personal sommelier, Sophie will undoubtably take over this task, as she loves to open wine for me.

So, Sophie? This is for you, my love. Study up.

Hey Gretchen, it was great fun meeting you this evening, and I’m looking forward to getting to know you and your blog even more. I ended up scooting off to my hotel without saying goodnight. Hopefully I’ll see you tomorrow at lunch to say goodbye (until next year?).

If only you were heading a bit more west, I’d teach you to sabre champagne — it’s wayyyyyyyyyy easier than he made it look (I did it in one swipe, the very first time). So fun, but a bit messy.

Hi Gretchen,
I have seen opening the champagne with a sword before by real professionals and it looked like a load of fun, but when I tried myself, it looked a dangerous task. I will stay with the traditional way. Ciao,
