Wine Blogging Awards

Yes, I know… Good work is it’s own reward.

I know that is the way people with character think.

Those people who really know me know that I have so much character that I might be confused as Quasimodo. (or given my bad attitude about my “good” character at this point, Quasi-f***ing-modo) (if you didn’t know that I had a bad attitude or a dirty mouth.. sorry/tough luck).

That being said, I heartily endorse awards and long to win one in my field one day… It is a natural that I would after watching the shows of “Award Season” for what seems like a billion years. And given that I have teenage daughters, I will not spend any time holding my breath hoping to be granted the award for “Mother of the Year”. God, knows my girls complain that I love my wine more than them… although wine has no C-section scars to show.. so you do the math…

Still, having grown up watching Gidget and the Flying Nun, I can’t help having that Sally Field-like hope that some day I will get to say, “You like me! You really like me!”*

I am hoping then that one of you readers (ok, ALL of you) will nominate us, at VinoVerve for the Wine Blogger Awards. You don’t have to say that we are the best wine blog of all time… Just this year…

You can choose from the following categories:

Best Wine Blog Graphics & Presentation
Best Industry/Business Wine Blog
Best Wine Reviews on a Wine Blog
Best Overall Wine Blog
Best Single Subject Wine Blog
Best Winery Blog
Best Writing On a Wine Blog

See? Easy Peasy! (Note to Randy and Kaz at Wine Biz Radio… who knew that I wasn’t the only person still using that phrase?)

So, please! Folks! Show some love… Take some pity? However you want to describe it.

Just do it before February 8th…

Vote. Vote often… and vote for us. We are from Chicago… and we know where you live.

Merci.

* Yes, I am aware that is not how the quote goes… but that is the way you mostly remember it.. so cut me some slack. oh, and I am sure that Marguerite, Kevin and Rory would be happy too…

In case you missed it, here is podcast of last night’s Wine Biz Radio discussing the work of the Illinois Wine Consumer Coalition. I chatted with Randy and Kaz and spoke with ChicagoPinot who called in to chat!

I even mentioned that my 12 year old acts as my personal sommelier (which hopefully doesn’t land me in the clink) I can’t help it. I like the way she smells the wine and pronounces it as “grape-y”. Oh and keep your eyes open. It is quite possible that this episode of WBR will be named “Sophie-bear” in her honor.

Hopefully you, will get a kick out of this and try to picture me in leiderhosen, although I think a Brünnhilde costume would be more appropriate!
