The Creole State
With an unofficial motto of Laissez les bontemps rollez and a long Spanish and French heritage, it seems that Louisiana would have been swimming in wine. But the heat and damp climate are hard on Vitis vinifera vines though it is believed that early settlers did use the local muscadine grapes to produce wine.
