The Bay State

While American made wine may not have been part of the first Thanksgiving dinner, it was certainly was being produced by the Massachusetts Bay Colony from local grapes.  Efforts to produce wine from more traditional vineyards would take longer when French Hugenots settled in the Berkshires in 1685.  It is clear that there was more to the colonial diet besides chowder and beans.
